Proof of the body
Proof of the body: the demonstrable angles
made between pigeons' toes, an image of fire
cast onto the pavillion floor by fast-moving
birch leaves, the pyre mast. Raindrops deformed
away from perfect spheres by the subtleties of air
resistance. Possibly, the weight of every book
ever printed weighed against a human hand. Proof
of the body's immortality: child's play, raccoons,
zero-degree weather. Chaos vanquished for one minute
while a snowflake develops six radial limbs at once
or as a milk snake slithers out from underneath
a few collapsed beams of the patio. Hopefully, a wick.
